Simple Celebration Plate

If you've been reading my blog from the beginning you've probably caught on to a theme I have going.  If you're new, let me tell you what it is: Simple crafts.  Yes, there are a few posts that include organization, home improvements, and recipes, but the truth is....I love simple projects that don't require a lot of time.  :)

It seems like just yesterday, my two were little tykes and life seemed to move all to fast.  The time to work on projects then was very limited, and was usually dependent on how long nap time lasted.  I still like that theme I guess.

The simple Celebration plate is a replica of a project I did back then.  My oldest was the only one that got to use it (the youngest was still spoon feed at the time).  I had forgotten all about that plate until the oldest reminded me of it one day, he was quiet fond of it.  It was then I decided it would be a great idea for the second one to enjoy the celebration plate as well.  I love seeing their faces light up even now when they realize they'll be getting it for dinner.  Would you like to see that same smile on the face of yours too?

Let me show you how easy it is to make....

You'll want to pick up these Sharpie Paint markers at the craft store, (with a coupon I paid about $10, and can still get lots of use from them).  The plate I got at Ikea for about $3, but any simple plate will do the trick.  Wash and dry the plate, then began writing the phrases around the edges.  That is all there is to it.  You're finished.  It dries quickly but you'll want to make sure you don't smear the words as you work near the previously written ones.  Doesn't get much simpler than that!  I prefer to hand wash ours.  I have never tried to run it through the dishwasher, so I can't tell you if it is dishwasher safe or not.  (If you are at all concerned about eating from the plate that has been "painted" on, then you could just place a clear plastic plate over it.)

I hope the Celebration plate has inspired you to make one as well.  When you see their sweet smiling little faces, I know you'll be glad you did!  Thanks for visiting today!

Have a great weekend!
